What do you associate Sweden with? Battle of Poltava, ABBA group, Swedish family or Swedish wall? And it's also the birthplace of Anna Johansson, a doctor who made a real revolution in nutrition, having created a diet like the "6 Petal Diet".
The essence of the diet
You can immediately calm down, you do not need to eat exclusively six petals a day, the diet is more varied and, in principle, does not include eating flowers. Although Dr. Johansson promises that in a week of dieting you can lose 5 kg, which sounds like an incredible result.
A petal is a diet day when you can only eat a certain amount of one type of food. The sequence of days is important, so you can even draw a flower with six petals, write on each menu and a serial number, and strictly follow the recommendations.
This, incidentally, is the convenience of this diet. No need to guess what to eat. You clearly know your diet for the next few days.
This, to some extent, is a mono-diet, but the body doesn't have time to get used to one type of food and switch to an energy-saving mode. In addition, studies have shown that mono-diets that last less than a day are the most effective for burning fat.
Results on this diet are achieved through alternating protein-carbs and reducing the number of calories consumed. You eat one type of food every day and don't mix protein with carbohydrates, which allows you to break down fats more efficiently.
How can you cook food
Food can be boiled, boiled, baked or steamed, but frying or adding oil is strictly prohibited. Also, the author suggests limiting coffee consumption to 1-2 small cups a day. Of course, no sugar. In her opinion, it is better to drink tea or still mineral water in an amount of at least 1. 5 liters a day. But in no case should you drink liquid food, just 30 minutes before a meal or an hour after.
And so that the feeling of hunger does not defeat you, divide all the food into 4-5 receptions. And you don't have to stick to fixed intervals. I'd like to eat? Went and ate some. Well, or drank green tea.
You can stick to the diet for two weeks in a row. But be sure to take a break of at least two weeks before your next attempt.
With all this, the diet is contraindicated:
- Pregnant;
- breastfeeding mothers;
- With diseases of the liver, kidneys, pancreas, heart, endocrine system (especially diabetes);
- With anemia;
- With infections or immediately after an illness;
- Exacerbation of any chronic illness.
And yet, while this is not a direct contraindication, it will be difficult to stick to this diet if you work. Therefore, it is better to save it for vacation.
Flower diet - every day one petal
And now let's take a look at what this Swedish lady came up with.
first petal
On the first day, it is proposed to eat only fish, but not more than 500 grams. Of course, this should not be eaten all at once, but spread over the entire day. From these 500 grams you can make two chops, bake fish in the oven or on the grill, cook stews and even fish soup, which will consist of water, spices and fish.
An example menu might look like this:
- Breakfast: cooked perch fillet (cod, hake or perch);
- Lunch: lean fish (eg carp) baked with dill and parsley or silver carp chops;
- Snack: fish meatballs, fish in a bain-marie or fish soup (no vegetables, just spices and herbs);
- Dinner: Boiled perch or grilled fish.
second petal
You can enjoy 1500 grams of vegetables and herbs. It is better if they are vegetables with a low glycemic index: zucchini, cauliflower, cucumber, tomato, pumpkin. It's impossible to just canned, because sugar is added there.
Of course, you don't have to limit yourself to salads and raw vegetables. You can make a stew, a casserole, or just drink a glass of non-store-bought vegetable juice of course.
- Breakfast: grated carrots with cinnamon or vanilla;
- Lunch: vegetable stew or mashed potatoes, vinaigrette;
- Snack: boiled potatoes, boiled cabbage or steamed vegetables;
- Dinner: salad, grilled vegetables.
third petal
On the third day, you get 500 grams of chicken meat as a prize. Why an award? Yes, because you can cook a lot of tasty and nutritious things with that amount. By the way, spices and herbs can be included unlimitedly in the diet on any of the diet days.
Suitable options for dishes would be boiled chicken or roasted chicken broth.
- Breakfast: boiled chicken fillet;
- Lunch: chicken breast roasted in foil;
- Snack: chicken broth or grilled chicken;
- Dinner: boiled chicken fillet.
fourth petal

sixth petal

Every day you can drink tea and mineral water, but exclude coffee or reduce consumption to a minimum. Yes, you have to give up sugar.
- Breakfast: two red apples with a cup of green tea;
- Lunch: a banana and three kiwis;
- Snack: a bunch of grapes and an orange;
- Dinner: two green apples.
seventh petal
No, this is not an optical illusion. And yes, you read the name of the diet correctly. There are really six petals and you need to alternate six types of diet, but there is one thing just as important as going off the diet. The day you realize you can do anything.
The main thing on this day is not to relax so much as to recover half of what you lost. Someone recommends a gradual exit and advises, for now, to only eat the foods you ate on a diet, increasing your portions just a little.
Advocates of radical methods say that the easy way out is not for us and suggest spending the seventh day exclusively in the water. Which of these two options do you like better - choose for yourself.
Of course, you can just wave your hand and dive back into the world of delicious cakes.
Why the diet is good
Will this diet help you if you decide to lose weight? Definitely yes, the Swedes did their best. If you try, you will lose weight from 0. 6 to 0. 9 kg per day.
Can you survive without breakdowns? Also a positive answer. The diet is quite simple and allows you to eat enough to not look longingly and nostalgically at a piece of bread.
However, for all its effectiveness, "6 petals" still does not solve the problem of your future diet. Six days of the diet will pass and you will return to your usual diet again, and it will already give you back the lost pounds. So even if you're on this diet, it's best to see it as an opportunity to take a step towards a healthier future.
